Tricia Orscheln, M.Ed., LPC, NCC, CCATP, C-DBT
Meet Tricia
Since earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology in 1996 and her Master of Education degree in Community Agency Counseling from Lincoln University in 1999, Tricia has gained over 25 years of experience working in community mental health-based programs. She has had the privilege of working with individuals who lived with developmental disabilities. In addition she has a great deal of personal experience with severe and persistent mental illness. Her work included counseling those who were addressing their substance use addictions and striving for recovery. She also spent time working with the at-risk youth population.
Tricia was inspired to become a professional in the helping field because of a family member’s life journey, which included living with a mental illness. She personally witnessed the struggle and the strength necessary to travel on a path of healing. She believes in a “whole person” approach to health, and that all dimensions of one’s life are interrelated. She has the ability and passion to empower people she works with to discover their own purpose and to increase their quality of life. She focuses on helping others create their own personal “mental health tool box” for implementing the change process.
Her specialties and experience include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Illness Management and Recovery, Grief and Bereavement, Mood Disorders, Trauma Recovery & Anger Management, Play Therapy, Wellness Coaching, Anxiety, Depression, Conflict Resolution, Adjustment Issues, Blended Families, LGBTQ Counseling, Mindfulness, Individual Dual Disorders Treatment (substance use) and Positive Change. She is also a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP). Tricia’s most recent certification is in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Tricia offers these specialties to ages 5 and up. She owns and operates the Tree of Hope Counseling and Wellness Center. The Center includes specific rooms for children, individual and family, and physical wellness.
The greatest purpose in Tricia’s life is raising her children, donating her time and talent to her community, and helping others help themselves.
Specialties
Cognitive behavioral & Dialectical behavior therapies
Engaging with CBT can help people reduce stress, cope with complicated relationships, deal with grief, and face many other common life challenges.
With DBT, the term “dialectical” refers to the balance between accepting oneself and making positive changes, emphasizing the integration of seemingly opposing concepts to achieve emotional well-being.
grief and bereavement
Bereavement refers to the state of loss, while grief is the reaction to that loss
Blended Families
Parents and children of blended families must sort out their new roles and set clear, healthy boundaries

2025 Updates & changes
Dear Valued Client,
I wanted to announce a few changes that will be implemented on January 1, 2025.
Good News: There will be NO increases in my rates per session!
2025 Counseling Session Rates Will Remain
- $175.00 for an Initial Evaluation
- $175.00 for Couples or Family Counseling Sessions
- $150.00 for an Individual Counseling Session
Sad News: I will no longer be a provider for the Missouri State Employee Assistance Program ComPsych beginning January 1, 2025. I have been on a freeze for new clients due to not being able to schedule people within a reasonable amount of time. I have pondered making this decision for over two years due to the demand and not being able to fulfill the needs. If you chose to continue working together as a self-pay, I will be providing everyone a Superbill (detailed receipt) for submission to any Health Savings Account and to your private health insurance carrier for potential refunds. If you do have an HSA account, please consider adding in counseling sessions as part of your medical program throughout the year.
I will require taking payment at the beginning of our session and no longer run credit and debit cards after hours. Time management is my personal goal for 2025 and putting best new practices for myself into place will help me achieve this. I will continue to offer Venmo and Square along with accepting cash and personal checks. If I have payment information on file for anyone under the age of 18, please send them with payment the day of their visit.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
I will be hosting/facilitating Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) groups for up to 6 participants starting in 2025. The groups will be held one evening a week for 12-weeks. This treatment modality has become very popular, and studies have shown a lot of improvement and effectiveness in those who utilize its specific mindfulness techniques. Contact me at (573) 319-2092 for details if you are interested in joining a DBT group in the next year.
Please feel free to ask any questions or voice concerns you may have.
Sincerely,
Tricia Orscheln, M.Ed., LPC, NCC
